This (2026) we will keep the Lord's Supper in obedience to Yeshua. Are you baptized but still neglecting to obey all his commdments? It is not too late to start. RSVP now to keep the Lord's Supper or let us know where you will be keeping it this year.
It was the Passover... and (after they drank the wine) Yeshua said, "Do this in remembrance of me."
The Passover is one of the festivals that the LORD commanded the Israelites to keep after bringing them out of Egypt. By instituting the Lord's Supper on the Passover, Yeshua was making an ongoing connection between all his followers and the rest of the Jews who would continue to keep the Passover despite doing so without any regard to Yeshua's sacrifice.
When the Gentiles began to believe in Yeshua, they had no reason to keep the Passover in itself, but through their connection to Yeshua they too became part of this ongoing connection to those Jews who didn't regard Yeshua. We should recognize that it was done this way for a reason.
It was in keeping the Passover with bread and wine that Yeshua said, "Do this in remembrance of me." (1) If we ignore the Passover we are ignoring the commandment from Yeshua, and casting off this connection. Will you choose to ignore the commandment of Yeshua and trade wine for grape juice? Or will you instead celebrate Easter?
Remember the LORD said: "I am a jealous God... Make no memorial of the names of other gods." (2)
Do we have any evidence that the LORD is no longer a jealous God? Easter was a pagan fertility goddess. By celebrating a day in her name we are indeed making memorial in the name of another god. How could that possibly be a wise thing to do while claiming to love and follow the LORD? If we do that, how could we be taken seriously by Jews who take their faith seriously? They would never join in with people in celebrating Easter, because they want to obey and show love for the LORD. They understand he is jealous because their love for God compels them to understand things from his situation, and so they take it serious that he is jealous and in his jealousy he feels disrespected when his followers would do that. Now think about it. If you are God and you give a commandment to not make memorial in the name of other gods, you will feel disrespected if that gets ignored! Especially if it gets ignored by those who you think should know better.
Help me spread the word about this!
